Electronic Device Policy

In consideration of the new Chancellor’s Policy on cell phones, MS 322 developed its own Cell Phone Policy which went into effect on March 2, 2015. 
  • During instructional periods 1- 5 & 7-8, (including transitions) students will not be permitted to use cell phones or any other electronic devices.
  • Such prohibited use includes, but not limited to: phone calls, texting, checking of social media, photography & video recording, playing games, listening to music, watching videos, checking the time, and checking emails.
  • Lunch: Students will be permitted to use their cell phones or other electronic devices during lunch period (1:05-1:46pm). 
  • Permitted activities include: checking emails, social media, listening to music, playing games, texting.
  • Non-permitted lunch time activities: phone calls, photography or video recording, watching videos.
  • At the end of lunch, all electronic devices must be put away prior to the student leaving the cafeteria or yard.

Lost or Stolen Devices

  • Lost or Stolen Electronic Devices: MS 322 and the New York City Department of Education will not be held liable for any electronic device a student brings to school. 
  • School personnel will not be responsible for recovering or replacing any lost items. 
Violation of the Cell Phone Policy
Any violations by students of the above rules will result in the following progression of consequences
  • First Offense: Verbal warning to student
  • Second Offense: Warning to student and parent via Jupiter Grades or phone call
  • Third Offense: Phone will be confiscated and parents will be contacted and must pick up the phone from Richie Jimenez.
